Clearer card research for every collector.
WhatsMyCardWorth is an independent educational resource for identifying sports cards, researching comparable sales and understanding the factors that shape market value.
Which question can we help you answer?
How can I find out what my sports card is worth?
Use WhatsMyCardWorth to learn the research process: identify the exact issue, separate the parallel and condition, then compare recent matching completed sales. The free checker builds sold-listing searches and, when configured, offers CardSight catalog and recent auction-sale lookup. Observed ranges require at least three eligible sales and are not guaranteed appraisals.
I do not know the set or card number. Where should I start?
Read both sides and record the player, manufacturer, year or season, set and number. Keep a serial stamp separate from the checklist number. If a field remains unreadable, leave it unknown rather than choosing an expensive lookalike.
Do I need a price guide or a card scanner?
A written guide explains how to check identity and comparable sales. A scanner helps extract candidate card details from a photograph, which still need review. Carduno is our related scanning app; that relationship is not an independent endorsement. Neither service certifies a physical card or promises a future grade.
What if there are no recent sales of my exact card?
Keep the missing evidence visible. First extend the date window, then broaden one identity field at a time and label the difference. A nearby grade or serial tier can be context without becoming an exact comp. Do not turn a single record auction into the value of every similar card.
Our purpose
Card pricing can feel opaque. Similar-looking cards may belong to entirely different markets, and an active asking price can be mistaken for a real sale. We explain a repeatable process that beginners can use and experienced collectors can audit.
Our relationship with Carduno
Carduno is a related card-scanning product. We link to it when automated identification can help complete a visitor’s task. Our guides are designed to remain useful even if every Carduno link is removed.
How our research works
Our starting point is exact card identity, followed by several recent completed sales. We distinguish base cards from parallels and variations, and raw cards from graded copies. We explain uncertainty when matching sales are scarce. An active listing, record auction result or headline about a player is not enough to establish the value of another card.
Editorial responsibility and limits
Guides are published under the WhatsMyCardWorth name. Source links and revision dates help readers check the examples. The site does not maintain its own transaction feed, authenticate physical cards, guarantee grades or offer private appraisals. The checker builds sold-listing searches and can request CardSight catalog and recent auction records when the connection is available. Readers must verify listing photos and physical condition.
